I think it’d be rather exciting to meet a pirate.
#pirates of the caribbean was kind of a formative influence #and nothing about these movies so much as her—snarling selfish sea-hungry pirate king #sometimes I rewatch the first movie and laugh to myself about how little it understood her and will; how it tried to convince us #that will was the pirate because he was chasing after her; and pirates are obsessed with treasure #when elizabeth spends the first movie chasing freedom and the next two chasing him; chasing her freedom; chasing war; chasing the world #her wedding was interrupted and she held the man responsible at gunpoint until he gave her letters of pardon #she was mistaken for a sea goddess and accepted it without question; she led an army to war as though it were her due #and she did it all without ever apologizing for the lives she takes or the lies she tells and when she betrays sparrow with a kiss #he hisses ”pirate” because what else could she be
#the greatest #i’ve got red in my ledger. i’d like to wipe it clean. #she manipulates people’s gendered expectations of her to extract information #she conducts interrogations by letting people think they’ve bested her #by letting men think they’ve bested her #because she’s small and fragile and female and she is emotional and easy to snap in half #and then she tears them apart #and it’s the greatest thing and you’re the greatest thing and i love you #get your own movie
My favorite part is how Phil’s not even slightly concerned. Not even a tiny bit tense. He’s just bopping there, waiting until she’s done. The sound of breaking bones is Natasha’s hold music.

When I grow up I want to be Ming-Na Wen.
She’s the voice of Mulan, as if she wasn’t amazing enough.
She broke it with her fingers. Not a fist, her fingers.
Girl is 50 years old.
FIFTY. YEARS. OLD.
fun fact: When you break things with your hands like that you have t break your fingers on purpose before so that they heal stronger. So basically this woman is so badass she broke her hands just to do this.
You asshat, you’re making it sound like she snaps her fingers in half.
Martial artists like Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee (and yes, fucking Ming-Na Wen, that beautiful badass) will build up their bone strength by repeatedly (and fairly gently) striking sand, gravel, wood and steel - this creates tons of microfractures in their bones (smaller than even a hairline fracture) so the bones will heal over again and make the bones stronger and denser with increased deposits of calcium.
This has to be done over long-ass periods of time, so the bones have time to heal, and none of the fractures expand into actual breaks.
Oh, and she’s doing precise-ass kicks in HIGH HEELS.
she kicks ass like a coursing river
with all the force of a great typhoon
